The Rockford Varsity Dance Team makes history - 1st time State Champs!

a note from Mr. Clark

Hello Parents and Guardians,

As we near the end of January, it's hard to believe the end of the trimester is a little more than 4 weeks away. From classrooms to clubs to competitions, there’s a lot of exciting things happening at Rockford High School!

Academic Support: As we move into the final weeks of the trimester, there is still time for your student to make an impact on their final grades.  Click the link here to see what resources are available to you and your student:  Academic Support Info

New Cell Phone Policy: The attached letter was sent home to families regarding a new cell phone policy will that will go into effect on March 2, 2026.    Click here to read the letter and view the policy:  New Cell Phone Policy

Flex Time: Flex Time is going strong! Students continue to make the most of this time through a wide range of opportunities—from engaging guest speakers to fitness sessions; Flex Time also provides dedicated intervention time for students to receive extra academic support, catch up on assignments, and work toward improving their grades. This month's guest speakers included professionals from the Accounting Field, Dentistry, Anesthesiology, Manufacturing, the National Guard, as well as our own Dr. Matthews, who spoke with students about their experience at RHS. Flex sessions are open for students to choose Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning. If your student has below a C- in a class, they will automatically be assigned to the class they are struggling in. Otherwise, encourage your student to investigate their opportunities for connection and extension in their classes.

Attendance: Attendance at school is important to your student's success. If your student is not able to be at school or will be late arriving, remember to call the attendance office to excuse them.  Unexcused absences and tardies can result in discipline. You can reach the attendance line 24 hours a day at 616-863-6032.

Graduation Info:  The last day of school for seniors will be on 5/13/26.  The graduation ceremony will take place at Calvin University on 5/18/26.  Students will be given 5 tickets per family.  If you need more than 5, we will have extras available, you or your student can sign up with the front office in early May when the tickets become available.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedure Reminder: Please avoid using the bus loop during student drop-off and pick-up times. This area is reserved for buses only to ensure student safety. The drop-off and pick-up area is located in the one hour parking, across from the main entrance. Please do not park or wait in the bus lane in front of the main entrance. Student drop-off time is between 7:00 AM and 7:40 AM.  Student pick-up time is between 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM. Thank you for your cooperation.

Winter Club Fair: Our Winter Club Fair is happening this week, January 26-29th during lunch.  Club Organizers will be showcasing their clubs in hopes of getting new members.  All clubs take place before or after school. Students can check out nearly the nearly 30 clubs we have to offer. Clubs are a great place to lean into an interest and gain personal connections at the same time.

Mental Health Education Night:  See the flier below for a cost-free presentation on mental health education and awareness coming up on February 4th in the RHS Auditorium.

KCTC Open House is coming up on February 4th and 5th. KCTC offers a variety of hands on programs for students to take during their 11th or 12th grade year. These programs are offered during their school day and not only help students earn employable certifications, but earn credits towards graduation as well. If you have any questions about programs or the application process, please contact the counseling office.

Students who are interested in the KCTC Criminal Justice Program should fill out the Interest Form by 2/27/26, see the link here:  interest form  as well as fill out the enrollment form when available in February.

All KCTC Enrollment Applications will be available February 6th through March 6th.

The counseling office would like to remind you that Rockford High School offers a Care Closet stocked with a variety of free essential items available to any RHS student. Items include, but are not limited to:

  •    Non-perishable food
  •    Toiletries
  •    Personal hygiene products

Alternatively, families can send an email to Kara Dixon ([email protected]) and she will coordinate with you. Additionally, we offer “grab-and-go” bags containing non-perishable food items for students who prefer a more discreet option. The greater Rockford area also has a variety of food resources - a link with those options is attached here. If you need more consistent help, please use the link here to fill out a form for the Hand2Hand program.  We’re here to help - please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can support you in any way.
